ABOUT CROWN HEIGHTS FARM SHARE
A Farm Share is the same as a CSA – Community Supported Agriculture. Founded in 2008 with the support of Just Food, the CSA was created to provide the residents of Crown Heights and surrounding neighborhoods with access to fresh, local, organic vegetables.
Members purchase a farm share of vegetables from Sang Lee Farms, a USDA Certified Organic farm in Long Island. From early June through early November we receive a weekly supply of fresh organic produce. If you buy a vegetable share you are eligible to buy a fruit share, cheese share, butter share and yogurt share as well.
Members pay for the entire season up front, which enables Sang Lee Farms to plan for the season, purchase supplies, make equipment repairs and much more. The Farm Share is entirely volunteer run, freeing up our farmers to focus on the harvesting and delivery of their vegetables. We do have a limited number of subsidized shares for low-income residents of our community, and those members pay for their share on a weekly basis throughout the season.
HOW THE FARM SHARE/CSA WORKS
The cost of a full share is $612 and a partial share is $392 and the total amount of the share is due prior to the start of the season.
The Farm Share relies on the time and energy of its members to ensure a successful season. Each member is required to dedicate 4 hours of volunteer time to the Farm Share per season.
Subsidized shares, paid for on a weekly basis throughout the season, are available on a case-by-case basis. EBT cards (SNAP benefits/Food Stamps) are accepted! To determine if you are eligible for a subsidized share, please contact Alison Conforti at 347.875.0678 or email@example.com.
