Greenest Block in Brooklyn Semifinalist

We are thrilled to be chosen as a commercial semifinalist in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s Greenest Block in Brooklyn competition (Franklin Avenue between Park Place and Sterling Place – odd side). The purpose of the Greenest Block in Brooklyn Contest is to promote streetscape gardening, tree stewardship, and community development in the borough of Brooklyn through block and merchant associations and other community groups.

Kids Day Is Funded But You Can Still Donate

Kids Day, brought to you by About Time, CHCA & FAM, is an annual event that takes place in Crown Heights Brooklyn. One stretch of Franklin Avenue from Sterling Place to Park Place is converted into a carnival for a day with games, rides, prizes and more. And best of all IT’S COMPLETELY FREE!!!

Last year was a huge success, and this year we want to top that! Donations of any and all sizes are greatly appreciated.  Kids Day is an important event that brings our community together and we hope everyone can make it out on July 21st to take part in this amazing fun filled day!

Bike Lane on Franklin Avenue

We have started a campaign to extend the existing Franklin Avenue bike lane that abruptly ends at Bergen Street. We are asking that Franklin between Atlantic and Eastern parkway consist of 1 traffic lane for cars and 1 bike lane, the parking lanes would remain as is.

There are paper petitions available to sign at various locations along Franklin Avenue (including Dutch Boy Burger, HAD Associates, Franklin Park, and The Candy Rush) or you can send us an email as follows:

Send to: chca@crowhillcommunity.org

Subject line: Create a designated bike lane on Franklin Avenue

Body of email:

We, the undersigned support Crow Hill Community Association’s proposal to convert the 2 existing traffic lanes on Franklin Avenue between Atlantic Avenue and Eastern Parkway to 1 lane of vehicular traffic and 1 designated bike lane. This would make traffic conditions on Franklin Avenue safer for pedestrians as well as create a secure thoroughfare for cyclists continuing on Franklin to Crow Hill/Eastern Parkway/Prospect Park from the designated Franklin Avenue bike lane that currently exists north of Atlantic Avenue.
