SNY and MetroPCS are joining forces again for the SNY Invitational high school basketball tournament January 27-28, 2012. Once again as part of MetroPCS’s commitment to the tournament, they are providing (20) $2,500 scholarships through the MetroPCS Leaders and Scholars Program to assist students from the New York City metropolitan area who plan to continue their education. Applicants for these scholarships must be high school students in 11th and 12th grade, and upon graduation from high school plan to enroll in full time undergraduate study at an accredited two year or four year college, university or vocational-technical school.
16 scholarships will be awarded to students from the 4 teams participating in the tournament – St. Raymond High School for Boys, Benjamin Cardozo High School, Thomas Jefferson High School and St. Anthony High School. Another 4 scholarships will be awarded to other high school students in the New York Tri-state area. Applicants must be high school students in grades 11 or 12 who reside in one of the following NYC metropolitan areas:
- New York City - five boroughs: Brooklyn (Kings County), Bronx, Manhattan, Staten Island (Richmond County), andQueens
- New York Counties: Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester
- New Jersey Counties: Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, and Union
- Connecticut: Fairfield County
